Our partnership with a women-owned coop in Mexico, nicknamed "Las Chicas Bravas", was picked up a third time today, this time by Chicago's NPR station WBEZ.
It is "unheard of", I was told, for a PBS segment to be aired 5 times nationally in a year. Marketplace re-ran the segment on July 4, and Living On Earth played it twice. Chicago has a sad footnote... our attorney, Marco Antonio Armendariz, was shot an killed in his home in October. Our project was not the most important or highest profile case he represented, and we don't flatter ourselves to think our small e-waste recycling operation in Mexico merits this kind of mafia hit.
Here again is the PBS TV broadcast from Arizona. The dog will lay down with the lion. We shall overcome.
